The Dangers Of Vaping CBD Oil

The Dangers of Vaping CBD (Cannabidiol)

The use of CBD oil in a vape pen is more effective than smoking according to studies. When looking at the various CBD options such as tinctures or edibles, vaping CBD provides perhaps the fastest results. That’s because instead of having to go through the GI tract, inhaling CBD through a vaporizer provides quick delivery of CBD into your bloodstream via the lungs. By inhaling CBD you avoid having to first process it through the liver like with tinctures or edibles.  This processing by the liver is known as the “first pass” effect.

But while it is a quick way to administer CBD, vaping can also be quite hazardous to your health in the long run.

What you should know

CBD oil for vaping can be very dangerous to your respiratory system because of “cuticle wax.” This cuticle wax is the fatty, oily layer of lipids covering the surface of flowering cannabis plants like hemp. This substance is burned away through smoking but, in the case of vape, this wax cannot be burned because of low temperature.

It can build up into your lungs and can cause serious health conditions. Vaping CBD oil can potentially cause solidification of granulomas which is the severe inflammation caused by fungi.

Thinning Agents of Vape Oil

Many CBD vape oils also contain harmful chemicals present in the thinning agents of the oil. Raw cannabis oil that includes active CBD extract is thicker and is too viscous to be used in the electric heater coils in vaporizers. In making it more consumable, the oil must be treated to lessen the viscosity through thinning agents.

Most of the vape oil manufacturers produce products with harsh and toxic chemical thinning agents. Some of the most commonly used thinning chemical agents are polyethylene glycol (PEG) and propylene glycol (PG). These are potential carcinogens and its important to know if your vape oil contains these thinning agents.

While vaping can provide a quicker onset of the CBD effects it also has a short lifespan within your system so after a few hours most users require another round of vaping to maintain the effect of the CBD.

Did you know our Nano CBD patches provide another avenue to bypass the GI tract and the “first pass” effect.  Like with vaping, our topical technology delivers 120mg of pure CBD oil through your skin. In addition, unlike vaping lasts only a few hours, our patches provide continuous stable delivery over 8 to 12 hours. So while the onset (typically 30-45 minutes)  isn’t as quick as vaping, you get a more long term effect without all  the dangers or chemicals found in vape oils!
